What is Nice Cream?
As you may know, “Nice Cream” is the common term for a vegan, non-dairy creamy ice cream like dessert. This basic vegan ice cream recipe uses frozen bananas, cocoa powder, vanilla extract and plant based, non-dairy milk (such as almond milk).
So you are free to indulge in this creamy, delicious frozen treat without the bloated, crampy feeling many get from consuming cow’s milk.
This recipe is not only super delicious but it’s also super healthy so you don’t have to feel guilty about indulging in dessert. And, it’s a great way to get your kids to eat some fruit. As a bonus, this is a great way to use up slightly overripe bananas.
Chocolate Nice Cream Recipe
- Food Processor or High Speed Blender
- 2 Frozen Bananas (previously cut in chunks)
- 1 tbsp Cocoa Powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 tbsp Non Dairy Milk s.a. Almond, Soy or Oat Milk Add more if needed for desired consistency

- Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides occasionally. Add more Non-Dairy Milk to desired consistency.

In our home, we buy and eat a lot of bananas but sometimes they do get too ripe to eat. So, when they start to turn brown and soft, I just peel the bananas, cut them in chunks and freeze them in a zip bag or container. This way, we are always ready to whip up a batch of Nice Cream.

Turn this recipe into a nice Peanut Butter Banana Nice Cream by simply adding 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter. This can be crunchy or smooth … either one works great. Top this off with some vegan chocolate chips for even more flavor and texture.
